Come and enjoy an activity on Dartmoor with the Rangers as part of the Ranger Ralph Club!

The Ranger Ralph Club is open to all children between the ages of 5-12 years and is ideal for the young nature enthusiast in your family.

Ranger Ralph meets on a regular basis and each activity is safely led by a Dartmoor National Park Ranger. The club runs up to twelve outdoor events per year. These are all free to attend once you are a member.

If you live locally, or are coming to Dartmoor when an event is on, why not book and join in. Remember to bring your membership card!

Friday 21 February – 10.00 -12.00 - 12.30 (2.5 hours)
Nest Box Workshop

To celebrate National Nest Box week come and make a bird box with help from Ranger Stuart. Learn why nest boxes matter, what makes a good nest box how to look after it and where is the best place to fix them when you get home.

Saturday 22 March - 10.30 - 12.30 (2hrs)
Lambing Live

Come and experience life on the farm at lambing time.
Meet at Greenwell Farm, Nr. Meavy, Yelverton GR (SX 535 659)
Numbers will be limited on this event, so we only have space for one adult per child or family with more than one child member. There will not be spaces for non-member siblings or additional adults on this one. Priority will go to those that have not attended this event before. Thereafter, a waiting list will be administered.
This event is not suitable for expectant mothers. Sheep can carry infections that can risk the health of the mother and the unborn child. Bookings taken from 3 March.

Thursday 10 April – 1.30pm – 3.30pm
Ready for adventure

Join Andy and Kats to test your navigation, backpacking, and tent putting up skills! We will have some fun games and challenges to learn how to be ready for a Dartmoor adventure – whatever the weather!
Meet at Haytor Visitor Centre GR (SX 765 771), TQ13 9XT
Fee paying car park with toilets, Haytor lower car park.

Saturday 10 May – 10.00am-12.00 noon (2 hours)
Life on a Dartmoor Farm

Be ready to get a little closer to farm life; trying out and developing your livestock nurturing skills particularly with the farm pigs. There will also be a fun explorer challenge around the farm to take you back in time and showcase the fascinating offshoots of farming! Please wear your wellies.

Booking is essential for these activities as numbers are limited. These events are for Ranger Ralph Club members only.

Please book by telephoning 01626 831080. Please note that we are often out on the moors so may not answer immediately but do leave a message and we will get back to you on our return. Alternatively, you can send an email to education@dartmoor.gov.uk

Bookings are only taken from three weeks before each event. If, for any reason ,you find you cannot make the event, please call and cancel. This will give other people the opportunity to book.

Sorry, but we do not allow dogs on our events.
