Management Plan Review
With the current Management Plan coming to the end of its five year span we started the review process in the Spring of 2018 with a view to having a revised plan in place in 2020. It is the strategic plan for the National Park, one that will guide decisions affecting future policy and delivery over the coming 5 years.
Consultation
The consultation for the draft Management Plan finished on the 31st May 2020. We have received approximately 400 responses to the plan, and would like to thank everyone who has taken the time to contribute.
We are currently working through these comments and preparing our responses to them and changes to the plan. An update and report will be provided in due course. The draft plan is still available to view below.

Next Generation
As part of the Management Plan Review and in response to the EUROPARC Youth Manifesto we have worked with a group of young people to develop a Next Generation Manifesto. This is a standalone document that represents what the Next Generation want for the future of the National Park. Their vision for Dartmoor, and summary of the 'asks' they have identified are also included in the Management Plan, which will be key to helping to deliver the Manifesto.

Assessment
The draft Management Plan has been independently assessed against sustainable development objectives, equality requirements; and its impact on protected wildlife designations. You can view these reports and comment on them as part of the Management Plan survey.

Background
The review started in the summer/autumn of 2018 with a series of 'Dartmoor Debates' looking at five different topics.
- Economy
- Historic Environment
- Farming & Forestry
- Understanding & Enjoyment and
- The Natural Environment
There were also two further workshops for National Park Staff and members and a Next Generation event for the 18 - 30 age group.
As a result of the workshops we have been able to draw some conclusions to help inform a new (draft) vision for the National Park which is in the process of being consulted on. The first stage of this consultation was to present it to the 'Your Dartmoor' steering group which met in February 2019. More details about the steering group meeting and the papers which have been produced can be found on the steering group page.
The next steps looked at some of the issues raised, and worked with a number of our partners on the detail of the Management Plan – what do we want to achieve and how we are going to deliver it?
Finally we have drawn everything together to produce the draft Management Plan.
